Born and raised in Harrisville, New Hampshire, Dr. Jay Raynor is truly at home with Spoonwood Dental Partners and in the Monadnock Region. He attended Keene High School, then went on to the University of New Hampshire for a BS in Plant Biology. After that, he entered Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he met his future wife and fellow dentist Dr. Steph Raynor. He eventually returned home to New Hampshire to practice dentistry and help establish Spoonwood. He says, “In my practice, I am guided by the idea that I should treat each patient as I would like to be treated. This simple philosophy extends to Spoonwood, and our relationship with the dental practices that comprise our organization. People do their best work when they are supported, listened to, and treated with respect.” Dr. Raynor’s dedication to dentistry includes both clinical practice, and professional service as former President of the Monadnock Dental Society and a Member of the Committee of Peer Mediation. In his spare time, Dr. Raynor enjoys reading, fishing, mountain biking, and spending time with his family.
After growing up in a suburb of Atlanta, Dr. Stephanie Raynor attended the University of Georgia, where she earned a BS in Nutrition Science. She then relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. While there, she met her future husband and fellow dentist Dr. Jay Ranyor. Together, they relocated to New Hampshire to set up their practice and expand their philosophy of dental care with Spoonwood Dental Partners. She says, “Good teamwork and communication are essential among professionals in a dental practice. They are also crucial to our approach at Spoonwood, working to support our partner practices. It’s all rooted in the team relationship between a caregiver and a patient, the understanding that you’re taking care of their teeth with them, not just for them.” Away from work, she enjoys lake life while spending time with friends and family, cooking, and traveling.
A New England native from the south coast of Massachusetts, Dr. Daniel Zhao earned a BS in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and continued there, getting his MS in Human Genetics from Tulane University School of Medicine. He then moved to Kentucky to earn his DMD at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After nearly a decade away, the pull of home drew him back to New England and Spoonwood Dental Partners. He says, “I am passionate about providing my patients with a high-quality experience, and I am also passionate about maintaining a doctor-owned business model that fosters a high level of care with a focus on long-term health at every practice.” Dr Zhao has earned a CORe Certificate from Harvard Business School Online. In his free time, he stays fit via rock climbing, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
